How does Nutshell for Confluence works?

We combines state-of-the-art models developed by OpenAI with the power and data inside the Atlassian platform. This means we provide a native artificial intelligence experience that is contextual to you, your teams, and your workflows, all in a way that respects the privacy of your data.
Is any data transferred outside your current site?

Data is transferred outside of the current site in order to generate a response. Even though the data is transferred, it follows existing security practices. Each data request is sent to OpenAI individually, over an SSL encrypted service, to process and send back to Confluence. After your summary is created inside Confluence, any external data is deleted.
How is Nutshell ensuring my data is protected?

Nutshell currently leverages large language models from OpenAI. Nutshell follows our existing security practices. Each data request is sent to OpenAI individually, over an SSL encrypted service, to process and send back to Confluece. OpenAI does not use Atlassian Intelligence inputs or outputs to train its models. Open AI does not log the inputs and outputs. After each operation is executed, any data outside your Confluence is deleted.
Does Nutshell store customer data?

The app processes, but does not store the video and its information. After a video is processed and the confluence page is updated, the data is deleted and exists only inside your Confluence.
Does OpenAI store any customer data?

No, OpenAI does not store the data you submit or the responses you receive.
What additional assurances do we have that our data is protected?

All requests from Nutshell to OpenAI follow a central process and infrastructure to ensure that the same protections are applied. All services that use the central process go through an standard for authentication and authorization. All requests to OpenAI’s APIs from the OpenAI Gateway service are made over an encrypted connection using Atlassian’s OpenAI API keys. Beyond this, we inherit and rely on OpenAI's security and privacy controls.
Does Nutshell respect existing permissions?

Nutshell honors all existing permissions within each feature. Users will not be able to create or generate content based on resources they do not have access to.
Does Nutshell impact my compliance with GDPR?

We are committed to helping our customers stay compliant with GDPR and their local requirements. As we do today for all of our products, we will process and transmit data for Atlassian Intelligence in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
How does Nutshell use customer data?

Nutshell processes the audio in your videos to provide the outputs your user has requested. We do not access any other data. We do not use your input or output for any other purpose. Our partner, OpenAI, neither retains your inputs and outputs nor uses your inputs and outputs to improve its services.
Is my data used to train AI Models?

No, your data is not used to train any models, it is processed only to create the summaries and then deleted.
What types of End-User Data does the app process but not store?

Content (such as Confluence pages, audio, and video)
Does Nutshell send customer data to OpenAI’s platform to train its services?

The data you submit and the responses you receive via Nutshell are not used to fine-tune or improve OpenAI’s models or service. Each data request is sent to OpenAI individually, over an SSL encrypted service, to process and send back to Confluence.
What are you using my inputs and outputs for?

We process your inputs to provide you with the outputs you requested. We do not use your input or output for any other purpose.

Does Nutshell use my data to serve other customers?

The data you submit and the responses you receive are used only to serve your experience. They are not used to train models across customers or shared between customers.
How is the data protected?

We use Azure OpenAI to process the Audio and Text of you videos, Azure OpenAI automatically encrypts your data when it's persisted to the cloud. The encryption protects your data and helps you meet your organizational security and compliance commitments.

Any information we collect will be stored and processed within countries that comply with GDPR. Primarily data is stored within EU or USA-based data centers, all of which have the appropriate compliance frameworks – including support for GDPR.
